About the game

Backrooms: Exit Protocol 0 drops you in a maze of yellow rooms where a keycard is waiting and the exit is locked. Somewhere in the same corridors a monster walks, so searching and thinking both come with a soundtrack of your own footsteps.

You creep through rooms, stop to work out the puzzles, and break into a run when something starts following. Crouching keeps you low; sprinting covers ground but makes noise. Splitting your attention between a puzzle and whatever is moving nearby is the tense part.

How to play

  • W A S D or the arrow keys move, Space jumps, Shift runs and C crouches.
  • E interacts with objects, R drops an item, Tab opens the menu, and the right mouse button zooms the camera.
  • On a phone, the joystick moves you, the on-screen buttons handle jump, run, crouch, drop and interact, and the right side of the screen turns the camera.
